Commercial Solar Across London

We install and maintain commercial solar across Greater London and the M25 corridor. Location changes less than owners expect — but the three things it does change are worth knowing before you shortlist anyone.

The network geography that actually matters

London commercial solar lives on UK Power Networks’ grid. UKPN operates three licence areas: London Power Networks (LPN) covering the capital itself, Eastern Power Networks (EPN) reaching the northern and eastern fringes, and South Eastern Power Networks (SPN) south of the river’s outer edge. Which licence area a building sits in decides where the G99 application goes and how the local network’s headroom looks — a Croydon depot and a Enfield warehouse are different conversations with the same company. Beyond the south-western fringe of the M25 the network stops being UKPN at all, which matters if your portfolio stretches into Surrey and Hampshire — we flag the boundary per site rather than guessing from the postcode’s look.

Central, inner and outer London: what changes

  • Central London. Conservation areas, listed stock and Article 4 directions concentrate here — the permitted development check is the first task, and access logistics (cranage windows, pedestrian management) shape installation cost more than hardware does.
  • Inner London. The classic territory for multi-let offices and hotels — lease structure questions usually lead, planning follows.
  • Outer London and the M25 corridor. The big-roof zone: logistics and industrial stock from Park Royal to Purfleet, where structural reserve and lightweight options decide system design, and arrays get large enough for the UKPN conversation to lead the programme.

Pricing is London-wide and building-specific — the costs page shows how postcode-driven access logistics move the installed price band.

COVERAGE FAQS

Coverage questions

Do you work outside Greater London?

Yes — the working area is Greater London plus the M25 corridor. Further out, the deciding factor is usually which network operator serves the site; we confirm it per address.

Does my postcode change the price?

The hardware does not care, but access does: central-London cranage, traffic management and working-hours restrictions add real cost that outer-London industrial roofs avoid.
